The South Valley Merchants' Alliance will hold its second annual Halloween Hoopla on Saturday, Oct. 27, which will include trick-or-treating, a costume contest for kids and adults, and a Haunted Kitchen Dinner.

The day's festivities will begin at 3 p.m., with trick-or-treaters invited to visit participating businesses throughout Hailey, indicated by black and orange balloons.

At the same time, the costume contest will begin at the Liberty Theatre on Main Street, starting with preschoolers at 3 p.m., kindergarten through third grade at 3:45 p.m., fourth through eighth grades at 4:30 p.m., and high school students and adults at 5:15 p.m. There will be prizes awarded for the best costume in each category. Last year, the inaugural event drew more than 500 contestants.

Snacks and juice will be provided at the Meriwether Building, located at 111 First Ave. North, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a Haunted Kitchen Dinner until 7 p.m.

Also taking place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be a Monster Music Mash in Bullion Square on Main Street, hosted by Ketchum Burritos in Hailey and featuring live bands and DJ music.

Business owners interested in participating in the event should contact Sarah Hedrick of the merchants' alliance at 720-2639.
