Filer was dressed for cold conditions, but The Community School girls' soccer team brought nothing but heat.

Slotting seven first-half goals (roughly one every five-plus minutes), the Cutthroats (16-1-0) dismantled the Wildcats 8-0 to capture their fourth consecutive High Desert district soccer title at Sagewillow Farms in Elkhorn Wednesday.

"It's always satisfying to win the title," said Cutthroat coach Kelly Feldman. "The most gratifying thing for me was seeing how well we could move the ball and everything we have been working on and talking about all season go into action."

Sophomore midfielder Erica Eshman netted her second hat trick of the week against the Wildcats.

Feldman said she was impressed that the Wildcats, a first-year team, went as far as the title game.

Eshman had one particularly pretty goal, a left-footed volley off a long cross by Jessie Curran, which is a shot much harder to convert than it looks.

Jessie Curran added two goals, to bring her total to 16 for the season. Hannah Hennessy, Nellie Brown and Maddie-Kate Curry also found the back of the net.

It was the 14th shutout for the Fish and goalie Kathryn Farmer. The squad has outscored opponents 102 to 6 and hopes to continue its roll in the State 3A Tournament in Buhl, Oct. 18-20, but goals are unlikely to come as easily against the cream of the 3A crop as they have against league opponents who don't play the same caliber of soccer as the Cutthroats.

"Yeah, I would feel a little more confident going into state if we had played some tougher games, but our schedule is what it is," Feldman said. "I think seeing how we played Monday against Gooding and the first half of yesterday's game we will be ready."
