Watanabe leads U.S. men in Chile

Sun Valley rider Graham Watanabe was the top U.S. men's finisher in an F.I.S. World Cup snowboard-cross at Valle Nevado, Chile Wednesday. Watanabe, who competed in the in the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, is a member of the 2007 U.S. FIS Snowboard team. The Wood River High School graduate placed fifth overall, making it to the semifinals, in the event that drew 52 world-class competitors. Norway's Stian Sivertzen took first, followed by Canadians Robert Fagan and Drew Neilson and French snowboarder Pierre Vaultier. Watanabe's teammate Lindsey Jacobellis placed first in the women's competition.
