The impressive winning streak is three seasons and still purring along. Coach Brian Gallagher's Wood River High School girls' swim team earned another team victory Saturday at the 13-team District 25 Invitational meet in Pocatello.
Wood River girls captured three individual gold medals and the "A" relay squad took gold three times to build a first-place 321-point total that was 100 points better than runner-up Hillcrest of Idaho Falls and nearly 200 ahead of Idaho Falls.
Natalie Hague (200 free), Megan Hayes (50 free) and Racheal McGinnis (100 free) were girls who won individual gold. The "A" relay winners were 200 free, 200 medley and 400 free. "B" girls' relayers were third in 400 free and 200 medley.
Jon Atkinson, one of only four Wood River boys at Pocatello, took the gold medal in 100 free. And despite their small numbers, the Wood River boys finished a respectable sixth of 13 teams with 51 points. Idaho Falls won with 202 points ahead of Twin Falls High, 195.
Wood River competes at the Twin Falls Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29, at 9:30 a.m.
