Speak up for change

The old adage that states, in part, "You can fool some of the people all the time" seems to hold true for President Bush. His popularity rating bottomed out at about 35 percent and has remained constant no matter what he does or says.

Now I read he is considering using military force against Iran because Iran continue to develop a nuclear program. By that singular logic the United States should also be developing battle plans against Great Britain, France, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel, all nations with nuclear capability.

But we can't just blame Bush and his administration. We need to blame the U.S. Congress, which, according to Section VIII, Paragraph 11 of the Constitution, has sole authority to declare war. We also have to blame the 65 percent of the population who don't have their heads stuck somewhere out of the sunshine. Bush has usurped the authority of the Congress and the majority of the American people to further the agenda of the neo-cons. I believe we can get that power back, but only if those of us who feel this way are willing to stand up, speak up and vote for change.

Citizens arise!
