Outraged at ICE

We are outraged by the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents as reported in Wednesday's Idaho Mountain Express. These federal agents barged into the homes of members of our community at 6:30 a.m. without search warrants. This certainly must have felt like an act of terrorism to those so violated.

We urge our County Commission to send a resolution to the U.S. Congress demanding meaningful immigration reform. It is time to admit that this country needs the workers from other countries and to devise a way for them to be here legally. It is wrong for families to be separated and often left destitute when the breadwinner is hastily deported. There are many fine non-citizens in our area who contribute to this community in meaningful ways. They have rights as human beings and should be able to feel safe in their own homes.

It is our hope that city and county officials will protest the actions of ICE and investigate why and how these raids took place.
