Richfield stays hot over Cutthroats

The Community School Cutthroats couldn't match the athleticism of the Idaho 1A #2-ranked Richfield Tigers in a Northside Conference volleyball match Wednesday at The Fish Tank in Sun Valley.

Led by the hitting of senior Morgan Hubsmith and the defense and passing of senior libero Kimber Swainston, Richfield (10-1, 6-0 league) handled the Cutthroats 25-16, 25-17, 25-23 to stay unbeaten in the Northside.

Richfield, winner of its last 18 of 19 games in league play, fell behind in the first game 15-10 but scored 15 of the next 16 points to rattle the Cutthroats. Hubsmith nailed five kills in the 25-17 second game victory and the Tiger serving dismantled the Cutthroats in the third.

Senior Amaya Ingram (12 kills) continued to spark the Cutthroats and got help at the net from senior Ashley Bradley. Coach Reamy Goodwin's Cutthroats (5-6, 3-3 league) hosted Carey Thursday while Richfield went to Mackay.
