Summer is drawing to a close and its unwelcome guest, the Castle Rock Fire, has been contained. Although the last few weeks brought forth tremendous challenges, they've highlighted the strength and resilience of Blaine County. Our sense of community has been strengthened.
Last week I learned that the Sawtooth Board of Realtors made a special contribution during the fire. They 'lent' their new government affairs director, Marisa Nelson, to the cause. Marisa was responsible for keeping the public informed--this included the frequent updates on the blainecounty.org Web site. For one week of the fire I was out of town. These frequent updates enabled me to stay connected with the community while at a distance. I am sure I am just one of many that found this service invaluable.
I know there are many other organizations and community members that also reached out to help. Thanks to everyone's efforts during this tough time.
