The Hailey Police Department cracked another burglary case last week, nabbing two Hailey boys who are accused of burglarizing a home on Glenbrook Drive in the Woodside area of southeast Hailey.

Acting Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Monday that the two boys, ages 14 and 15, face burglary charges for allegedly breaking into the home on Wednesday, Aug. 22, and stealing jewelry, camera equipment and other items with an estimated total value of about $10,000.

"In doing some follow up on this, we were able to identify two male juveniles as suspects," Gunter said. "On the following day, we were able to retrieve most of the stolen items, and the two juveniles will be charged with burglary."

Gunter said the burglary occurred at about 2 p.m. and the thieves gained entry to the home from an unlocked kitchen window.

The bust was on the heels of another burglary case that Hailey police solved in July when five other Hailey teenagers were arrested in connection with a series of some 25 vehicle burglaries. Approximately $15,000 of stolen items was recovered.

Police also made an arrest in June in another vehicle burglary case.

"Actually, we've been on a really good roll," Gunter said. "We've got some hard-working officers in the department and when we get a case they're on it."

A new case that surfaced late last week has the department on the hunt for a new set of culprits, as officers investigate four car burglaries that occurred Thursday night on the west side of the city.

Officers received reports Friday morning of vehicle burglaries on Della Vista Drive and Walnut and Alder streets. Taken was an estimated $1,500 worth of cameras, iPods, walkie-talkies and other electronic equipment.

Gunter said the majority of the vehicle burglaries this summer have occurred when owners left their doors unlocked.
