Margarita Guardado

Margarita "Maggie" Guardado, 16, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007.

She was born Feb. 28, 1991, in Compton, Calif., the child of Arnulfo Guardado and Maria C. Mares. The family moved to Idaho the year Maggie was born, and they have lived here ever since. Maggie would have been a junior this year at Wood River High School.

As far as her interests, they were only beginning to develop. She had a great love for music, especially rock. And even though she was born and grew up in the U.S., she had a passion for all kinds of Mexican music. Maggie was very fun to be around and loved to make everyone laugh. She was well known for her own great laugh and for her "Superstar" pose. Friends at school would typically see her singing and dancing in the hallway. All her relatives from here and California have fond memories of her laughter and playful ways.

Survivors include her mother, Maria C. Mares; two brothers, Raul Ramirez, 23, and Eddie Ramirez, 22; three sisters, Diana Guardado, 15, Rocio Chavolla, 7, and Amelia Mares, 5; as well as many aunts and uncles all over the States and Mexico. Everyone will miss her loving ways and beautiful smile.

A memorial mass will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hailey. Interment will follow in the Hailey Cemetery.

"The Maria Mares Family Memorial Fund" has been established at Mountain West bank in Hailey—call (208) 578-0449.

Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey, Idaho.
