Bigwood women hold their championships

Ladies Invitational golf


Fifty-two women celebrated the summer by competing in Thursday's Bigwood Ladies Invitational 18-hole golf tournament Thursday, Aug. 16.

Terry Tracy and Kathy Hanchett posted the day's best score with a 75, good for first gross in the First Flight. Format was two-person best ball.

And third-flight player Rita Bates won both the closest to the pin and long drive prizes for her handicap division.

Sponsors included AmeriTitle, D.L. Evans Bank, Curves and Pepsi. Honored by the women's golf association were its scholarship winners Esther and Jennie Williams.

First flight, gross: 1—Terry Tracy and Kathy Hanchett 75. 2—Nancy Bushell and Debbie Exley 77. 3—Marilyn Hoffman and Jill Brennan 80.

First flight, net: 1—Barbara Williams and Arlene Herich 62. 2—Janice Larsen and Bobbie Hapayan 64. 3—Emily Garr and Jeannine Burns 66.

Second flight, gross: 1—Karen Miller and Mary Stratton 82. 2—Kimberly Ellwanger and Suzanne Walsh 90. 3—Ginny Reed and Gail Lincoln 92. 4—Jennifer Kulm and Marilyn Whitesides 93.

Second flight, net: 1—Jackie McRoberts and Kaye Burnham 60. 2—Janet Hale and Kathy Rothgeb 62. 3—Minnette Broschofsky and Linda Thorson 63. 4—Mary Rolland and Donna Cronin 69.

Third flight, gross: 1—Skeet Donaldson and Rita Bates 88. 2—Gail Nolan and Toni Adare 95. 3—Lori Williams and Pat Forgeon 103.

Third flight, net: 1—Beverly Fraser and Margaret Haase 57. 2—Linda Vinagre and Teri Ensch 62. 3—Pat Forgeon and Mary Thiessen 65.

Closest to the pin (#8 hole): First flight—Barbara Williams. Second flight—Karen Miller. Third flight—Rita Bates.

Long drive (#12 hole): First flight—Nancy Bushell. Second flight—Donna Hardison. Third flight—Rita Bates.
