Ketchum declares disaster emergency

The Ketchum City Council on Monday night passed a resolution declaring a local disaster emergency allowing for federal reimbursement of costs associated with the Castle Rock Fire.

The adoption of the resolution at the regular city council meeting also triggers interagency agreements that come into play in emergency situations like this, City Attorney Ben Worst told the council.

Mayor Randy Hall had issued a declaration proclamation earlier on Monday, Aug. 20, but knowing that the current fire will go beyond seven days a further resolution extending the disaster period for 30 days was needed, Hall told the council.

The resolution was passed unanimously.
