Cove Springs plan fits

The Cove Springs development will go before the County Commission in late August. The revised application shows that the developers of Cove Springs have been very responsive to both public comments and the findings of Blaine County Planning and Zoning Commission.

The density and number of units have been reduced significantly, and many lots have been moved out of the "cove" sagebrush steppe area. Wildlife is protected by the location of fewer units near the winter range line and by funding Fish and Game to monitor wildlife and to pursue sage grouse mitigation. Water management is improved with the change to a dual delivery system. Finally, I am especially pleased to see 26 lots dedicated to community and teacher housing.

I have always supported Cove Springs because I believed it was thoughtfully planned and provided a real community for residents while preserving agriculture, view corridors and rural character. The revisions to the plan reinforce those goals and values, and I continue to support this development.
