Logjam atop Senior Baseball League

Three teams tied with 3-2 marks

There's a crowd vying for first place in the 2007 Blaine County Title Sun Valley Men's Adult Baseball League.

Three teams are tied for first place with 3-2 records after Tuesday night's wood bat hardball action on the Founders Field diamond in Hailey.

Lefty's River Dogs (3-2) defeated the Coors Light Cyclones (1-4) by a score of 13-5 to pull into a tie for first place with the Wise Guy Dirtbags (3-2) and Waxroom Snappers (3-2).

It was a frustrating night for the Cyclones (15 hits, 15 runners left on base) and a good one for the River Dogs (14 hits and a couple of big innings).

Dogs' righthander Jimmy Jorgensen pitched out of a bunch of jams and lived dangerously the entire evening. Sharing the mound chores for the Cyclones were John Rathfon and Eli Lloyd.

The Dogs scored first blood with a five-run first inning sparked by a leadoff double by Casey Hawkes (2 hits) and featuring RBI singles by catcher Kenny Nelson (2 hits), third baseman Danny Turner (3 runs) and second baseman Jeff Sarchett (3 hits, 4 runs).

Lefty's stretched its lead to 9-2 with a 4-run third featuring 3 walks and a 2-run single by Hawkes. For the River Dogs, Jeff Poggi had 4 hits and 2 runs. For the Cyclones: Ryan Stavros 2 hits and 2 runs, Justin Herald 2 hits, Rathfon 3 hits and Jim Jaquet 2 hits.
