Sam Young (1.59:12) and Billy Olson (2.00:30) were the fastest Pro Men riders in Saturday's Galena Grinder 22.5-mile cross-country race on the Galena Lodge trail system 23 miles north of Ketchum.
Top cross-country women were Jana Repulski (2.13:25) and Stacey Scanlan (2.17:30). In all, there were 101 mountain bikers riding the 22.5-mile, 17.5 mile and 10-mile courses that constituted the cross-country portion of Saturday's event.
Start and finish of Saturday's 50% singletrack course was at 7,000 feet, with a total elevation gain of 3,200 feet in one 22.5-mile loop.
The Galena Grinder, also called the fifth annual Whit Henry Memorial Race, included a 45-mile marathon that had 67 riders. Marathon results weren't available from the Knobby Tire Series organizers by press time but will be published when they're available.
Whit Henry was a 20-year-old mountain bike and skiing enthusiast from Bellevue who died July 2, 2003 in an auto accident on the road to Fairfield.
