Despite her decision to not seek re-election, Hailey Mayor Susan McBryant will remain on the Friedman Memorial Airport Authority for nearly another two years.

She began a two-year reappointment to the airport board in June.

McBryant told the Mountain Express she would remain on the board where she currently is vice chair. Airport attorney Barry Luboviski also confirmed there is no requirement that McBryant hold the mayor's post to be on the Friedman body.

The airport board consists of two appointees from the city of Hailey (Hailey Councilwoman Martha Burke is the other Hailey representative) and two from Blaine County (currently Commissioner Tom Bowman and former commissioner Len Harlig) and an at-large or independent member (currently Dr. Ron Fairfax, a dentist as well as aircraft owner).

McBryant said, however, that a new Hailey City Council could decide to negate her appointment and designate a new member to represent Hailey on the airport body.
