News Briefs

Trails seal-coat project delayed

Following equipment breakdowns, the Wood River Trail seal-coat project will continue this week. The trail will be closed for seal coating from Gimlet Road to East Fork Road today, July 25, and tomorrow, July 26.

Although the section of trail will be closed during the seal-coating process, a signed detour will be available. However, it may not be suitable for road bikes, rollerblades, bike trailers or for night travel.

Seal coating is the process of applying an asphalt emulsion to seal the trail surface. After several years of regular use and exposure to the elements the worn asphalt surface will roughen and crack.

During the application and drying process it is important that trail users stay off the new surface for 48 hours, says a news release from Blaine County Recreation District.

For more information, call the district at 788-2117.
