A Hailey man was arrested on Saturday following an alleged road rage altercation in Bellevue.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that 27-year-old Andy Brown faces a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly throwing a can of Coca-Cola at another vehicle and threatening bodily harm to its driver. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies allegedly found a marijuana pipe in his vehicle.

The sheriff's office report says the altercation started shortly before 4:30 p.m. near the Splash & Dash car wash on north Main Street in Bellevue when Brown allegedly pulled in front of a vehicle driven by Loren Williams, a 59-year-old Boise man.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jay Davis said Williams apparently became upset. "Brown said (Williams) was flashing his headlights, honking his horn and flipping him off," Davis said.

The two vehicles stopped near the intersection of Cedar and north Second streets, where Brown allegedly "rushed" at Williams and began making threats, Davis said.

Davis alleged that Brown continued to threaten Williams, telling him "you don't know who you're messing with" even after deputies arrived.

Davis said the marijuana pipe was found in a diaper bag that Brown had in his vehicle for his 1-year-old son, who was with him at the time of the altercation.

After the suspect was arrested, a deputy drove Brown's vehicle to Brown's home in Hailey. Davis said the 1-year-old was returned to his mother.
