Sun Valley swimmers win pile of medals

Team competes at Treasure Valley invitational


Sun Valley 5B swimmers brought home a pile of medals from last weekend's Treasure Valley Long Course Invitational meet in Boise. Nineteen of them were for first place finishes.

Twelve-year-old Forrest Davis led the team with five golds, winning first place in the 100 Breast, 50 Fly, 400 Free, 200 Breast and 50 Breast. Davis finished second in two other events, the 100 Free and 200-Free.

Close behind Davis was Racheal McGinnis, 16, who placed first in the 200 Back, 100 Free, 50 Back and 50 Free. McGinnis claimed second in the 200 Free and fifth in the 50 Breast.

Ten-year-old Kaedi Fry also placed first four times, winning the 50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Free and 100 Back. She placed second in the 200 IM and claimed third prize in the 100 Breast and 200 Free.

Winning three events was Lena Friesen, 12. She brought home gold in the 100 Free, 400 Free and 200 Free. Friesen also claimed third place in the 50 Breast and 100 Back, took fourth in the 100 Breast and finished fifth in the 50 Fly.

Another first place winner was 10-year-old Samantha Sutton in the 200 IM and 100 Fly. Sutton also finished second in the 50 Fly, 100 Free and 200 Free events. She won third place in the 50 Free and 50 Breast and took fourth in the 100 Breast.

Fourteen-year-old Sean Sutton was the other SV5B first place finisher. He did it in the 400 Free. He also finished third in the 400 Free and 50 Breast, took fourth in the 200 Free and claimed fifth in the 100 Breast.

Other SV5B swimmers who recorded top five finishes are as follows:

Colby Werley, 12, fifth in 200 Breast

Elizabeth Fry, 12, third in 100 Breast and 400 Free and fourth in 50 Fly, 200 Breast and 200 Free.

JT Sutton, 14, third in 50 Fly and 100 Fly, fourth in 50 Breast and fifth in 200 IM.

Sarah Brown, 14, second in 50 Fly, third in 100 Fly and fourth in 200 Back, 100 Back and 200 IM.

Lacy Werley, 17, fifth in 200 Back and 200 Breast.

Megan Hayes, 16, third in 50 Fly and 400 Free, fourth in 50 Back and 200 Free and fifth in 100 Back.

Mollie Milgard, 7, fifth in 100 Free and 50 Free.

Adam Potts, 13, fifth in 50 Back.

Jon Atkinson, 15, fourth in 50 Free and 200 Free and fifth in 100 Back.

Other SV5B swimmers who competed at the meet were Madison Milgard, 10, Loni Unser, 9, Tayler Bates, 12, Reta Flynt, 13, Olivia Wentzell, 9, and Travis Flynt, 9.

In girls 12 and under relays, the team of Fry, Sutton Werley and Friesen finished third in both the 200 Free and 200 Medley.

Thirteen and over girls Hayes, McGinnis, Brown and Werley claimed third prize in the 200 medley.

In boys relay competition the 13 and over team of Atkinson, Sutton, Sutton and Potts claimed second place in the 200 Medley.

The final meet of the season for the SV5B team is the Summer Championship Long Course meet in Twin Falls, Jul 27-29.
