Correction on Clinton?s draft dodging

Last week in my letter to the editor I stated that former President Bill Clinton had been pardoned by Jimmy Carter in his 1977 blanket pardon of Vietnam draft evaders.

Further research shows that Clinton's actions in avoiding the draft were not illegal. As stated in Snopes.com, "Although what he did may not have been against the law, Clinton's broken promises and contradictory statements about his efforts to avoid the draft were prime examples of the kind of self-serving double speak that later earned him the sobriquet 'Slick Willie.'"

I am obligated to correct that statement, but I stand by the rest of the letter.
