Plan is a rare opportunity

We are all aware that the Warm Springs Ranch property is a true gem.

Patti and I were very excited to be invited (along with other neighbors of the property) to a "get acquainted" meeting with the new owners. We thought it very thoughtful to be asked to give input concerning the possible development plans at this early date.

So often when plans of this type are presented to city officials the only people attending are folks with special interests, often with strong emotional perspectives. The rest of us (myself included) just sit back and read Wednesday's papers.

Let's get involved this time. It is a unique opportunity, and it can be fun.

The new owners and staff expressed their appreciation of this unique property and professed a real desire to be good stewards of the land. Their presentation showed a lot of research into the best uses of this environment.

How about we give them the benefit of the doubt and work with them. After all, it is their property, and it will be developed sooner or later no matter what.

Let's help the new owners find the best balance between aesthetic values and the number and location of the structures built.

If you want reassurance, call architect Dale Bates. I know no one more knowledgeable and trustworthy than he, and he really cares.

Let's go after this incredible opportunity to really affect the future of our home. Go with a strong positive attitude. Express your personal interests too. Be upbeat. It's what will get you heard.

Aren't we fortunate to live here?
