The board of trustees of the nexStage Theatre continues its campaign to save its home of more than 15 years, and has announced the addition of a new board member, Renata Beguin, to its ranks.

Beguin and her husband, Fred, have owned property in the valley for 20 years and been full-time residents since 2001.

With $1.3 million raised as of June 1 toward the goal of $1.5 million to purchase the Ketchum theater property, the board is still seeking major donations and grants to complete this first stage of the capital campaign.

Beguin, former managing director for The Hunger Project in Geneva, Switzerland, is a coach and consultant to several nonprofit organizations in the United States.

"We are thrilled that Renata is joining our board at a crucial time for the nexStage and will bring a wealth of expertise to the board's campaign efforts," said Prue Hemmings, nexStage's development director.

"When we moved here (in 2001), I started a new venture, No Harm Done Design, which produces faux fur products as an alternative to real fur, and hesitated to get deeply involved with many of the worthwhile causes in the valley," Beguin said. "However, at this time, I believe strongly that the exciting plans for the future make the nexStage Theatre a unique and valuable element in our community.

"Hopefully, my early background in acting and training as a theatrical director in addition to my experience as a fund raiser will allow me to make a difference by joining the board of this wonderful theater organization."
