The Wood River Valley?s favorite vet family, the Ackers, is featured on the cover of the latest issue of the Sun Valley Guide, which hit regional newsstands last week.

"Meet the pet people" proclaims the newest issue of the Sun Valley Guide magazine, which hit regional newsstands last week. Featuring the valley's most recognizable vet family—and their pets—on its cover, the summer edition of the Sun Valley Guide throws itself wholeheartedly into its mission to be the definitive guide to life in the valley.

The magazine is published by Express Publishing, the parent company of the Idaho Mountain Express.

Featuring profiles of local residents such as the Ackers, Kristy Pigeon and Nappy Neaman, the cover story is a continuation of the popular "Sun Valley Guides" series. The series, now in its third installment, highlights three different Sun Valley "guides"—people who are presented as guides to their own slices of valley life

This time around, the stories, written by freelance writer Betsy Andrews, focus on locals who have dedicated their lives to animals.

Other features in the quarterly resort-lifestyle magazine explore various aspects of Wood River Valley living.

With its first foray into highlighting the valley's growing Hispanic population, the glossy magazine contains an in-depth look at a centuries-old Hispanic tradition—the quinceañera. This celebration of a girl's 15th birthday is examined through Hailey resident Amy Tamayo's own quinceañera.

Exploring the bountiful outdoor activities of the area, a feature story by local horsewoman Linda Anderson takes readers on a serene trek through the beauty of the surrounding mountains and valleys on horseback. Also, join photographer Todd Kaplan and journalist Jason Kauffman as they seek out the recreational paradise known as Copper Basin, located just over Trail Creek summit.

In another returning series, Idaho Mountain Express Editor Gregory Foley has "A Conversation With Rockwell Schnabel," a part-time Ketchum resident who served as U.S ambassador to the European Union.

Take a fresh look at a seasonal favorite, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, through the eyes of one of its ever-faithful musicians. Cellist Ellen Sanders has been performing at the highly anticipated, free music event since 1992.

As well as being a mixture of features and reports on life and activities in the valley, the Sun Valley Guide is also a resource for visitors to the area. Each issue features a comprehensive calendar of events, a dining guide, art gallery profiles and lodging, equipment and outfitter listings.
