Eight Blaine County high school seniors have been selected to play in the 30th Annual North-South Shine All-Star Football games Saturday in Twin Falls.
Five seniors from the 2006 Carey High School state A1 championship team will represent the North squad in the eight-man football game set to start at 5:30 p.m. Wood River High School will be represented by three seniors in the 11-man game that starts at 8 p.m.
Games will be played at the Twin Falls High School stadium. Tickets for the annual Shrine fundraiser are available at the gate.
Carey Panthers
Playing for the North will be Carey seniors Allen Peck, Brad Hunt, Cody Baird, James Carlson and Jesus Ocampo. Carey head football coach Lane Kirkland will be in charge of the offense for the North team, coaching seniors from Carey, Shoshone, Hagerman and Camas high schools.
"Coaching these seniors is a lot of fun," Kirkland said Wednesday. "We're having a lot of fun at practice and I'm looking forward to having one last shot at working together."
Kirkland will be joined at head coaching duties by Hagerman football coach Lonnie Funkhouser, who will be in charge of defense. Assisting Kirkland and Funkhouser will be Camas coach Randy Jewett and Shoshone coach Mark Sant.
The North squad will take on the South team comprised of seniors from Lighthouse Christian, Castleford, Raft River, Murtaugh and Hansen high schools.
Baird will represent the North team at the running back and linebacker slots. Hunt will play offensive end and safety, while Peck and Carlson will serve as offensive ends and linebackers. Ocampo will hold the line at guard on both offense and defense.

Representing the Wolverines for the North in the 11-man game will be seniors Tyler Hendricks, Cory Rutkowski and Danny Ward.
A memo posted on the WRHS web site states that Hendricks will play defensive tackle, Rutkowski "will do the long kicking" and Ward will play free safety and return punts.
