Three Wood River cowboys and cowgirls and one from Hill City have qualified for the Idaho State High School rodeo finals June 18-23 at Pocatello.
Finalizing the state rodeo qualifiers from the Fifth District was the two-day district finals rodeo Friday and Saturday at Gooding. The top six in the season standings for each event made the state grade.
Boys' cutting season winner Kade Smith is headed back to state along with Hill City's Andy Olson, third in cutting. Wood River's rookie Hanna Thacker (girls' cutting) and Kathryn Smith (barrel racing) are also headed to Pocatello.
Olson won't be going in calf roping, but he won Friday's first go-round at Gooding with a ride of 11.150 seconds. He finished ninth for the season.
Carey's Brittany Hennefer was eighth in all-around final standings (113). Hennefer had a good finals rodeo at Gooding with a third place in the second go of barrel racing and a third in the first go of pole bending.
Fifth District all-around winners were Jack Stevens (149 points) and Cheyanna Robinson (230), both of Gooding.
