Five Best

One-liners

Bishop Craig Anderson, the interim rector at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sun Valley, is a veteran, a former head of St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, a husband and father and the recipient of numerous honors. He was ordained in 1975 and served in the Diocese of South Dakota, as priest in church in Alto, Tenn., and as the 11th president, dean and professor of theology at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York City. In 1991, he was awarded the Sacred Hoop Peace Medal by the Great Sioux Nation. These are Bishop Anderson's Five Favorite One-Sentence Quotations:

1. "Mitakuye owasin," a Lakota greeting, which translates to: "We are all relatives."

2. "Generally speaking, bishops are generally speaking," from Bishop Anderson.

3. "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes," from Mark Twain.

4. "When man decided to destroy himself, he took the was of shall and finding only why, smashed it into because," from e.e.cummings.

5. "The Dude abides," from the movie "The Big Lebowski."
