Ruby Lee Green, 98, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at her home in Carey, Idaho.
She was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Tazewell, Tenn., the daughter of John and Rutha Jane (Whitaker) Jennings. Her father brought her to Boise, Idaho, to be raised by family members after her mother's death when she was 3.
Ruby married Leslie Gene Green in Boise on Oct. 22, 1927. They drove to their new home in Muldoon in an Essex automobile, a day-long trip, with her trunk shipped by train from Boise to Picabo.
Ruby was the Postmaster at Muldoon during the first years living there. She and her husband Leslie were instrumental in establishing the Larkin Community Church in Carey.
Ruby gave her family a great legacy in a beautiful history of her family, a book of poetry, and many original paintings. She also wrote and published her husband's family history, which is on record at the Ketchum Community Library.
Surviving family members include her daughter Frances I. Myers of Carey; her daughter Marilyn L. Allred of Herriman, Utah; her son John L. (Dorothy) Green of Blackfoot, Idaho; her son Richard B. (Chealá) Green of Baja, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband and a grandson, Patrick Michael Laidlaw.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 15, at the Carey LDS Chapel. Interment followed in the Carey Cemetery, with arrangements under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey.
