Bellevue voices concerns about Blaine Manor plan

When a resolution for support of a new elder care center in the Wood River Valley came up at Bellevue's City Council meeting on Thursday, May 10, the Croy Canyon Ranch Foundation didn't exactly get the response they desired.

The council's main concern over the foundation's proposed plan was the location, which members believed would be too far from town to be beneficial to residents of the center. The plan calls building a new elder care facility in Croy Canyon, west of Hailey, to replace Blaine Manor, in central Hailey.

"I think it's inappropriate," said Councilman Shaun Mahoney. "(The residents) want to be around people, not in the middle of nowhere."

Councilwoman Beth Robrahn wasn't quite as adverse to the plan, although she still had reservations.

"I'll only support this if they provide transportation to and from the facility," Robrahn said.

All council members agreed that they would like a representative from the Croy Canyon Ranch Foundation to attend the council's special meeting, to be held at Bellevue City Hall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in order to address the issue.
