Wood River Hosts Great Basin Prep Tournament

Wood River High School hosted the Great Basin Conference tennis tournament Wednesday and Thursday at the Sun Valley Tennis Club. In addition to Wood River, teams from Century, Pocatello, Minico, Burley and Jerome competed for berths at the state 4A tournament scheduled for May 18-19 at Vallivue High School in Caldwell. At right, Wood River's Tessa Barrow keeps her eye on the ball in girls' doubles competition. Below, Wolverine Brendan Freund plays cool in boys' doubles play. At right, Wood River's Chris Chapman rushes the net in another boys' doubles match. Wood River coach Vicki Johnston had high hopes for her team, which finished the regular season at 8-6-1.
