Monday was apparently not a great day for a 45-year-old Bellevue man, who first dumped his four-wheeler in the Big Wood River and was later arrested for allegedly kicking a police officer.

Bellevue Marshal Tim Green said Charles Guffy tipped his four-wheeler over in the river around noon while he was trying to make a crossing in the Howard Preserve in western Bellevue.

Green said he was cruising through the area when he saw Guffy about 70 yards downstream from the attempted river crossing.

"He just came walking out of the river soaking wet," Green said.

Advanced Towing and Recovery pulled the four-wheeler from the river at a cost of about $90, Green said, adding that he didn't cite Guffy for driving the four-wheeler in a restricted area because he "figured he'd been punished enough."

Later Monday evening, Bellevue deputies were called to a domestic dispute in the city. The same Charles Guffy reportedly became upset, allegedly kicked a deputy and was arrested on a charge of battery on a police officer, Green said.
