IB good plan for high school

The presentation of the International Baccalaureate program at Wood River High School on March 20 generated a great deal of excitement among many of us in attendance. The richness of the IB curriculum—its academic rigor, its integrated approach, its emphasis on critical thinking, and its focus on the global community—has the potential to profoundly impact the academic experience of our children. (Parents who were unable to attend the March 20 meeting can find an excellent overview of the IB philosophy and curriculum at www.ibo.org.)

Given the lengthy lead time required for a school district to attain IB certification, we encourage our district administrators to undertake an earnest and comprehensive evaluation of the IB curriculum without delay. To the extent that input from parents would be helpful in this process, there are many of us who would be happy to participate. Let's not lose any time or momentum on an issue of such great importance.
