Recycling helps business

In honor of Earth Day our school is trying to find ways to make the Earth a better place.

My project is to get people in Ketchum to recycle more. For example, the energy saved from recycling one aluminum can will operate a computer for three hours, or the energy saved from recycling one glass bottle will operate a 100-watt light bulb for four hours.

It is cheaper for you to get cardboard recycled than to pay for garbage pickup, and you would save about one quarter of the energy used to make it.

I went to the Environmental Resource Center in Ketchum to get brochures to give to businesses in Ketchum, but I can't go everywhere, so if you did not get one, please pick one up yourself. They are free and will give you information how and where to recycle glass, cans, paper, cardboard and plastic bottles in Ketchum and the Wood River Valley.

Or you may ask the Environmental Resource Center for a free consultation about recycling.

If everyone helps to recycle more, the Earth will be a better place.
