Drug bust suspects charged with 56 felonies

Defendants accused of dealing in methamphetamine and cocaine

Eleven suspects in a major Blaine County drug bust last month have been charged with a total of 56 felonies.

Grand jury indictments against the defendants were unsealed on April 24 in Blaine County 5th District Court. Charges range from a high of 10 against one suspect to a low of two against a few others. Three of the accused are currently free on bond, while eight remain in custody, seven in the Blaine County Jail and one with the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

The grand jury indictments are the culmination of an investigation of nearly a year by the Blaine County Narcotics Enforcement Team. Most of the arrests were made on April 11 when the team, with the assistance of local law enforcement officers, the FBI and ICE, raided two homes in Hailey and one in Ketchum.

District court arraignments for 10 of the suspects are set for 9 a.m. May 14. No court appearances have yet been scheduled for the defendant who is the custody of ICE.

Carlos Moya-Diaz, a 22-year-old Hailey man, is charged with eight felonies, including two counts of delivery of cocaine, one count of trafficking in cocaine, three counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps, one count of possession of marijuana in excess of three ounces and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver where children are present. Moya-Diaz, who is represented by Ketchum attorney Dan Dolan, is in custody on $100,000 bond.

Erika Moya, a 21-year-old Hailey woman and the wife of Carlos Moya-Diaz, was indicted by the grand jury on two felony charges: aiding and abetting trafficking in cocaine and aiding and abetting possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver where children are present. She is currently free on $15,000 bond and is represented by Hailey attorney Kevin Cassidy.

Fidel Cornejo-Gomez, 26, Ketchum, is charged with six felonies: one count of delivery of methamphetamine, two counts of delivery of cocaine and three counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps. He is in custody on $50,000 bond. Public defender Doug Werth has been appointed to represent the defendant.

Francisco Vega-Salinas, a 28-year-old Bellevue man, was indicted on four charges: two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps. He is currently free on $40,000 bond. Vega-Salinas is represented by Hailey attorney Michael Kraynick.

Jose Antonio Hurtado Jr., 25, Hailey, is charged with six felonies: two counts of delivery of methamphetamine, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and two counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps. He is in custody on $100,000 bond and is represented by public defender Werth.

Juan Carlos Hurtado, 19, Hailey, faces three felony charges: delivery of methamphetamine, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and failure to affix drug tax stamps. He is free on $100,000 bond and is represented by Werth.

Ramero Snow Hernandez, a 21-year-old Hailey resident, was indicted on eight felony charges, including three counts of delivery of methamphetamine, three counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps, one count of aiding and abetting delivery of methamphetamine and one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. He is in custody on $100,000 bond. Public defender Christopher Simms was appointed to represent the defendant.

Refugio Regaldo-Gil, 22, Bellevue, faces three felony charges, including delivery of methamphetamine, failure to affix drug tax stamps and possession of methamphetamine. He is in custody on $100,000 bond and is represented by Werth.

Tristar Peon Ontiveros, a 30-year-old Hailey man, was indicted by the grand jury on 10 felony charges, including, four counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, one county of delivery of methamphetamine and five counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps. He is being held on $500,000 bond. The Roark Law Firm has been appointed to represent the defendant.

William Smith, a 66-year-old Ketchum man, has been charged with four felonies: two counts of delivery of cocaine and two counts of failure to affix drug tax stamps. He is incarcerated on $100,000 bond. Public defender Cheri Hicks was appointed to represent him.

Jose Flores-Quintana, a 32-year-old former Blaine County man, is currently in the custody of ICE. He was indicted on two felony charges: delivery of methamphetamine and failure to affix drug tax stamps.
