The Wolverines chewed up the Bruins on the tennis courts in Hailey Tuesday, serving conference rival Twin Falls an 8-4 defeat.
The Wood River High School tennis team put on strong performances in all divisions, but was especially strong in mixed doubles play, with dominating performances by partners Whitney DeBree and Cory Rutkowski and partners Alex Mallea and Robin Neldrich. The DeBree-Rutkowski combo held their opponents scoreless in a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while the Mallea-Neldrich team defeated their opponents 6-2, 6-3.
The #1 Wolverine girls doubles team of Kira Gardner and Tessa Barrow continued its winning ways as did the boys combo of Connor Fairman and Morgan Pike.
Singles victories were recorded by Wolverines Alex Henning, B.J. Forgeson, Anna Chrysikopoulos and Tanya Greenwood.
Wood River coach Vicki Johnston said her team performed well on a nasty day with temperatures in the high thirties and biting gusty winds.
"But the players hung in there," Johnston said.
The Wood River tennis team is now 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The team hosted Blaine County rivals The Community School Cutthroats on Thursday.
