One of the most important seasons in the Christian church calendar has arrived, and Wood River Valley churches are offering several days of services to worship the three holy days before Easter, as well as Easter services and Easter egg hunts.
Easter, the Sunday of the Resurrection, or Resurrection Day, is considered the most important religious feast of the Christian liturgical year. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which his followers believe occurred on the third day after his death by crucifixion some time in the period A.D. 27 to A.D. 33. Easter also refers to the season of the church year, lasting for 50 days, from Easter Sunday through Pentecost.
In addition to Easter egg hunts and services, an Easter brunch will be served at the Sun Valley Lodge Dining Room in Sun Valley from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Leana Leach performing. For reservations, call 622-2150.
