Minidoka County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Walker has been selected as the new Camas County Magistrate Court judge.

Walker's selection was announced late Wednesday afternoon following interviews in Fairfield by the five finalists for the position and deliberations by the 5th Judicial District Magistrate's Commission.

Ketchum attorney Dan Dolan was one of five finalists for the job.

Walker, 39, has served as prosecuting attorney in Minidoka County since 2003. He was first appointed to the position and later elected. Previously, he was a partner in the Rupert law firm of Ling, Robinson and Walker.

He attended Ricks College, Utah Valley Community College and Brigham Young University. He received his law degree in 1998 from the University of Idaho.

Walker will replace Camas County Magistrate Judge John Varin, who will retire from the bench on May 31.
