Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the internationally known organization Art of Living, will appear at the Boise Center

"He's such a beautiful man and an incredible speaker," said Ketchum resident Amy Clifford, a practitioner of Ravi Shankar's healing breath technique, Sudarshan Kriya. She is also affiliated with the organization as a local contact who has helped to support workshops in the community.

Ravi Shankar is on his 25-year Jubilee tour, which began in February 2006 in Bangalore, India, with the largest spiritual gathering ever held. Some 3 million people came together from over 150 countries to experience Ravi Shankar's message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or a One World Family.

"He is booked several years in advance, and this year will speak in 174 cities. He's highly sought after," said Nityati Kala, who is coordinating events, from her base in Chicago. "He's never been to these parts, and feels it should be accessible to everyone. He gave a directive to bring his healing breath technique to smaller communities."

Before he comes to Idaho there will be a large celebration in Washington, D.C., in his honor.

"He's a wonderful humanitarian," Clifford said. "This is an opportunity to hear him speak. It's very uplifting. We can all uses a dose of positivity."

Ravi Shankar has been nominated for a Nobel Prize the past six years. The Art of Living is the largest non-governmental organization affiliated with the United Nations.
