Hailey police investigate vehicle burglaries

By TERRY SMITH

The Hailey Police Department is investigating a series of car burglaries that occurred Saturday night or Sunday morning in the southeast part of town.

Police Chief Brian McNary said four vehicles were burglarized, two at the Snow Mountain Apartments, a third on Red Ash and a fourth on Briarwood Drive.

He said one owner reported the loss of a compact disc and sound system valued at about $2,000. A radio was taken from a second vehicle and a third owner reported the loss of an owner's manual and vehicle registration. The owner of the fourth vehicle said the culprits tried unsuccessfully to remove a CD player and settled on stealing a measuring tape instead.

McNary said the same thief or thieves likely committed all the burglaries since they took place in the same area. There were no suspects as of Monday.
