Hailey man cited after vehicle crash

A Hailey man was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign after the Blaine County Sheriff's Office determined he was at fault for a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning at the intersection of state Highway 75 and Woodside Boulevard in southern Hailey.

The accident at 7:47 a.m. temporarily blocked commuter traffic on the highway.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jay Davis said Martin Galez, 38, was issued the ticket because he allegedly pulled from the stop sign on Woodside and was struck by a vehicle driven by Rodney Jerke, 40, of Jerome.

Galez was driving a gray 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe and Jerke was driving a white 1997 Ford pickup. Damage was estimated at $3,000 to each of the vehicles.

Davis said neither driver received injuries serious enough to required transportation to the hospital.

Davis said that Galez reported that a school bus was blocking his view of the highway.
