Harold ?Jack? Howard

Harold "Jack" M. Howard, 87, passed away at home in Boise, Idaho, on Saturday, March 10, 2007.

Born in Carey, Idaho, on Feb. 4, 1920, to John and Rachel Howard, Jack came from a long line of some of the original pioneers to settle Idaho. He was very proud of his heritage and often spoke of it to his children. As well as being a native Idahoan, he traveled extensively throughout the world in service of his country and in his work as a master mechanic and chief equipment supervisor for Morrison Knudsen. He loved his job and traveling, but most of all he loved meeting new people and conversing on a wide variety of subjects. Even in retirement, his love of people never wavered. His wit and generosity will always be remembered with fondness and deep gratitude.

A viewing was held at Summers Funeral Home in Boise on Wednesday, March 14. Services were held Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, First Ward at 2290 Warm Springs Ave. in Boise. Burial, with a military Honor Guard, followed at Morris Hill Cemetery. Please, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a cancer charity of your choice.

Jack was proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers "Stu," "Doc" and Harris Howard and sister Violet. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Daisy Howard, son James M. Howard, daughters Kay Sparks and Kathie L. Howard, his sisters Arlene Bryson and Margaret Garvelink, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
