Falcone skis to gold at Junior Olympics

Ross Falcone of the Sun Valley Ski Team won the opening event at the Chevrolet Freestyle Junior Olympics at Steamboat Springs in Colorado on Wednesday.

Falcone garnered 45.0 points in the halfpipe to best Taylor Seaton by 7/10ths of a point. Austin Bourret (SVST) was 37th overall.

Former SVSEF skier Sophia Schwartz, now of Waterville Valley, was a repeat winner in the women's halfpipe. Hannah Haupt finished third in the J3 class and 13th overall. Chloe Gordon (F1) and Zana Davey (F3) skied to fourth in their class and 16th and 17th overall.

Aunika Phillips was fifth in the F3 class and 20th overall, Kali Phillips was the 11th F2 and 22nd overall, and Lauren Phillips finished fifth in the F1 class and 23rd overall.

Racing continues through Sunday, March 11.
