Jean Claude Toedtli, an accomplished chef, passed away on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at his home in Hailey. He was 50 years old.
Jean Claude was born May 30, 1956, in Neuchatel, Switzerland, the son of Maurice and Johanna Toedtli. He came to the United States when he was 23.
He was a Certified Executive Chef and mentor to many culinary professionals in the restaurant industry. Most recently he was the Executive Chef for Heidi's Hofbrauhaus in Hailey, lending his expertise in German and Austrian cuisine.
"Jean Claude was a true professional," said Heidi Lucas, "always lending a helping hand. He will be missed."
He had a love for hunting and fishing in the Wood River Valley and beyond. His love for tennis was very apparent. The television was always stuck on the tennis channel.
Jean Claude is survived by his mother, Johanna Toedtli, and his brother, both of Neuchatel, Switzerland.
Friends may call at the Wood River Chapel from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Heidi's Hofbrauhaus, located at 411 N. Main St., Hailey.
