Dorothy Mae Cutler


Dorothy Mae Cutler, 87, of Hailey, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Blaine Manor in Hailey following an extended illness.

She was born March 1, 1919, in Shoshone, Idaho, the daughter of Carl and Stella Harmison. Dorothy first attended the Rock School north of Shoshone until her family moved to Bellevue in 1929. She graduated from the Bellevue High School.

She married Chester Cutler on July 29, 1937, in Shoshone. They made their home in Hailey, where Dorothy was a homemaker, and Chester worked for the family sawmill at the Triumph Mine, and then for 38 years he worked for the Sun Valley Co.

Dorothy enjoyed doing latch hook, crocheting, and being a great cook, baking the best pies. She was known as the "volunteer extraordinaire"€ and volunteered at the Royal Neighbor Lodge. She and Chester also loved camping with the family and would often be found at one of the area campgrounds for the weekend. Dorothy had a kind word for everyone she met and lived by the principal, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Surviving are her two sons, Carl (Kathleen) Cutler, of Salmon, and Danny (Sheryl) of Nampa; her former daughter-in-law, Sharon Cutler, of Mountain Home; three grandchildren, Mark, of Boise, Shane, of Vermont, and Sara (Richard), of Nampa; and one great granddaughter, Skye, of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and her half brother, Ray Harmison.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Wood River Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Lipskoch officiating. Interment followed in the Hailey Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of the Wood River Valley, PO Box 4320, Ketchum, ID 83340.

Arrangements were under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey, Idaho.
