Yola Wheeler

Yola Wheeler, 87, has passed with family at her side after a short illness.

Born Yola Leona Bonelli on May 31, 1919, in Piedmont, W.V., she lived her childhood and graduated high school in Cumberland, Md., in 1938.

She met Roy Wheeler, a decorated World War II veteran, and they were married in 1948. In 1964 she and Roy moved to Ketchum where they joined his mother and stepfather, Rita and Cleo Maddix, and managed the Sun Valley Taxi and Limousine service. In the early 1970s Yola went to work for the Christiania Motor Lodge in Ketchum and worked there for 20 years. After Roy's passing in 1992, she moved to Hailey.

She will truly be missed by many of her neighbors and friends at the Summit apartments in Hailey where she lived for the past 15 years. She leaves behind a son, Kenny; daughter in law, Holly; and grandson, Cody, all of Hailey.

At her request there are no services. The family will plan a celebration of her life at a reunion this summer. The family suggests memorials be made to the Senior Center, Hailey, Idaho.
