Rink is a gem

An absolute gem of a community recreation resource exists in Ketchum. The Christina Potters Ice Rink at Atkinson Park, operated by the Ketchum Parks & Recreation Department, provides hundreds of hours of after-school and weekend fun for children and adults of all abilities. Sun Valley Adaptive Sports, in partnership with the city department, offers a program called "Rink Rats" twice a week during rink season.

In this program, kids and adults of all abilities use hockey sleds—sit-down hockey skate devices—for loads of fun and competition in the winter sun. Ketchum's youth recreation program encourages "inclusion recreation" so that the hundreds of able-bodied children at the park can enjoy some challenging activities with their peers. The kids' perceived "differences" virtually melt away on the ice. Big thanks to Kirk, Jen, John, Doran, and Maggie for providing a healthy, safe, and fun spot for all at Atkinson Park.
