Quintessential sunny Sun Valley days greeted 129 entries in an Interdivisional Freestyle race series Jan. 26-28 on Baldy.

Two halfpipe events and moguls drew competitors from six of the seven junior divisions across the United States.

"It was the biggest freestyle event we have had and it went extremely well," noted Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation office manager Julie Moses. "It was just a gorgeous weekend."

The field was so large, competitors had to qualify for a second run in moguls Saturday. The top 16 men and eight women plus 50% of age groups advanced after the first run.

In the Men's Open class Sun Valley native Shane Cordeau aced the field in both single and dual moguls, winning the first mogul event of two.

"He is really really fast," Sun Valley coach John Zuck said. " He was the fastest guy down the course on Saturday."

No big surprise for a kid that grew up chasing his father, professional bump skier, Joey Cordeau, down the mountain from the time he could walk.

Also taking top turns in single moguls were first-place class finishers Claire Siderman and Wyatt Wilson, and second-place finishers Zana Davey, Samantha Sutton, Aunika Phillips, Kurtis Fieguth, Zach Maricich-Siele, Shane Cordeau, Falcone and Wilson.

Because protest was filed, the Intermountain Division had not released as of Monday the complete results for Sunday's dual moguls.

Another Sun Valley standout was Ross Falcone, 18, who won overall honors in both halfpipes. "He had a really good day," Zuck said.

Two-time halfpipe class champions were Tatum Morell (F5), Adam Vorsteveld (M4) and Kurtis Fieguth (MS). Silver medalists were Zana Davey, Andrew Fairley, and Hannah Haupt.
