Jail too crowded

I have been a chaplain at Blaine County Jail for over six years, leading church services for any inmates who choose to attend. Both of the past two Sundays church was canceled, because there was no space. This is not the first time I have arrived at the jail and then heard, "No church today; we are too crowded."

You cannot imagine how much we need a new jail in this valley. Not only for the staff and administration to have a good place to work and be more secure, but for the prisoners, too, to have a place that they can hear the Word of God at least once a week.

In addition to improved conditions for the staff and administration, my desire is for the inmates to have the opportunity to attend various classes and studies, not only on Sundays but during the week also when others come to the jail and offer services. This is one step that can help the inmates be closer to God and also learn how to be a positive part of our community.
