Amazing telemark day on Cozy

All-terrain opener attracts 38

An all-terrain race on Baldy's Cozy ski run Jan. 6 was an amazing kickoff to the 27th consecutive year of the longest continuously run telemark series in the country.

That's what 2007 Sun Valley Telemark Series organizer Danny Walton said about the A-Cab-sponsored All-Terrain event which had plenty of winners—including the 38 racers.

Mollie Holt and Staci Page were the women's winners for the day, while Lance Levy, Sean Flynn and Jim Slanetz took men's first-place honors.

Best Dressed was Gretchen Flint. Best Effort went to Mike Torres, who hiked back up to get a gate. And Danny Walton took the Best Crash prize for hitting a jump WAY too fast and cracking a tooth.

Chris Cook and Tyler Chandler won Big Air for throwing a massive tele mute grab 360.

Other events are the Bob Marley Day planned for Feb. 3 at Soldier Mountain; the Dollar giant slalom March 4 on Dollar Mountain; and the Hawaiian Nationals April 7 on Baldy.
