The Carey High School boys' varsity basketball team continued its winning ways with a 71-46 Magic Valley Northside Conference victory over the Bliss Bears Tuesday in Carey.
The win boosted the Panthers to 11-2 (5-1 conference) for the season.
As usual, the Panthers spread the scoring around, with four players scoring in double digits. D.J. Simpson led the Panthers with 14 points. Cody Baird scored 13, Brad Hunt chipped in with 12 and Blake Whitby added 11.
With hot hands, the Panthers hit six three-pointers. Simpson and Baird had two apiece, Whitby contributed one and James Carlson added another.
Carey also played tough defense, forcing 22 turnovers, 12 of them steals.
Bliss was led by Dale Butler with 14 points and Eli Gough with 12.
The Panthers dominated throughout, leading 19-14 at the end of the first period, 38-22 at half and 53-31 at the end of the third.
Despite a loss last week to the Richfield Tigers, the Panthers remain one of the top ranked 1A schools in the state.
On Thursday, Carey was ranked fourth by IdahoSports.com. Hagerman held the top spot, followed by Notus. Cascade was ranked number three and Richfield held down the fifth spot.
The Panthers host Shoshone tonight at 7:30 p.m. in another Northside Conference matchup.
