Blaine County Coroner Russell Mikel has released the name of an elderly man who died from hypothermia last week at Smiley Creek some 38 miles north of Ketchum.

Tor Rogenes, 79, was found buried under several inches of snow near his home on Sunday, Dec. 17. He had last been seen by neighbors on Thursday, Dec. 14, Mikel said.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office initially withheld release of the man's name pending notification of relatives.

Mikel said Rogenes was not in good health and probably fell down and was unable to get up.

"He apparently collapsed outside and died of hypothermia," Mikel said. "It was just an unfortunate place where he fell down."
